Hiii...
We have recently re-homed a 16 month old black lab called Lucky. We knew he was a typical boisterous overgrown pup before we got him home and we have made good progress with him over the week he has been with us
From what we can tell, his previous owners before the rescue centre never attempted to discourage his jumping and clothes pulling when he got restless.

From reading forums and from experience we know to ignore him when he jumps at us and this does work!...we stand still, facing away from him with our arms crossed and he does eventually give up.

The only tricky trait we are having problems with is that as soon as he gives up jumping, he will start to pull our clothes....(we have obviously been wearing old clothes and we don't play tug of war games with him)....we have read that again, ignoring him and 'becoming a tree', will help this clothes pulling problem but Lucky is strong enough to pull me and my mum over, so its impossible for us to discourage him this way. My dad is able to resist his pulling (he tried this today) by just standing still but Lucky just continued to bite and rip at his shorts until the hems were basically shredded..!

At the moment, the only thing we can do is get a grip on our clothing so he cant pull backwards and tell him firmly to DROP (which sometimes works)....we have also read that distracting him or making a trade with one of his toys will work but when your in the middle of the garden with a 30kg dog attached to you, this can be tricky!!
Any suggestions would be a big help!!!
Thank Youuuuu

I found a Lab mix in the middle of the road 2 weeks ago. She was starving and scared but she jumped right in the car, curled up on the passenger seat and fell asleep. I thought she was going to die that night so I just sat with her for a long time so she wouldn't be alone. Well, she survived that night and is doing remarkably well. Her name is now Bailey. She loves kids and driving in the car, does well in the crate, is good on a leash, loves spending time with people, is good with other dogs and can fit a whole cat head in her mouth without doing any physical damage to the cat . We can't keep her but we are going to foster her through Atlanta Beagle Rescue until she is healthy and finds a forever home. Bailey is not a Beagle so I told ABR that we would set up a separate account for donations specifically for her care. Here is the link if you would like to help:
