I am reluctantly looking to find a very good home for my two Chocolate Labradors. They are 2 years old and brother and sister so I will only rehome if they stay together. The reason is simply that with young children and work we just can't give them the time they deserve and it isn't fair on them so although it will be heartbreaking we want to do the best thing for them. We would like to find someone who can take them for long walks every day and cuddle up with them on the sofa. They would be better suited to an older, experienced dog owner maybe with older children (as they can be quite boistrous and excitable and need a strong handler) and someone who has lots of space for them to run around in. If this sounds like you please contact me

I think this would be the right place to put this,

The story of our re-home "Pearl".

A guy I work with bought Pearl as a pup and keep in mind that he lives alone and we work 12-14 hour shifts. For 3 months I heard him whine and complain that he couldn't get her house trained and thought the correct thing to do was to leave her locked in a cage until she started to whine to go out. I was always telling him this isn't right that he needed to take her out on a regular basis and get his mom (she lives next door to him) to come over a few times while he was working to take the pup out. Finally he had enough a gave Pearl to a co-worker of ours.

Same story, she and her boyfriend left Pearl locked up until she was whining to get out.

At the end of about 7 months I knew all this was happening and the dog still wasn't house trained. I heard a conversation between the then owner of Pearl saying the dog was to stupid to be trained and they were taking her to the pound the next day.

I am not a dog person by nature, but didn't see the need for this one to go to the pound for the idiocy of previous owners so I told them I would take her.

After 3 days I had her house trained for the most part through the use of positive reinforcement and no cage. Though for some time there were accidents but they have passed and we have all lived well together for around 8 months (I think).

I have always loved the labs energy and intelligence, but have never had to pleasure of owning one. If I did get one, I would prefer to get one from a shelter.

Since they have so much energy, would they make a good dog for someone with disabilities, mainly walking, but could provide a proper backyard for one to run in and play, plus plenty of lakes to play in as well?
