Hello all,

I have only just joined Labrador Forum today. I have a beautiful black Lab called Monty who is two years old. I got him from LRRSE when he was just a puppy and I love him to bits. He is my friend and companion and I can't think about life without him.

I am taking Monty on a trip down the River Wye this summer. I am going down the river in a canoe and camping at night. Monty will love it. I expect he will be in the water more than in the canoe and I will be taking photos throughout the trip and posting them on this site - if I can upload them. I am getting ready, I have just bought a mess tin, saucepan and Frontier Stove.

My trip has been inspired by a great little book I recently bought from Amazon called "A Blackwater Rising" by S Clark Garnett. The book is an adventure story about a young man who goes on the run in the Wye Valley with his beloved black Labrador, Wellington. If you enjoyed 'The 39 Steps' then I think you will like this book. I give this book five stars and recommend it to all ages over 16 years.

I will let you know how the trip goes. I just hope I get some good weather. My plan is to take five days in August to meander down the river starting somewhere near Builth.

Cheers,
If you link your existing account to face book it gives you a one click sign in, hit the facebook login and you'll be logged in to the forum, you can also still log in with your existing user name and password.
I've also changed the like system a little, it is now intergrated with the notifications if you have it set up, it will tell you when someone likes your post.
If you need to know how to either set up notifications or facebook connect just shout, both can be set up via your user cp.

Hi guys, this morning I bought our beautiful yellow lab called Benton home to join our family.

He is gorgeous and settling in well. He is quite literally acting as my shadow and follows me everywhere. He's currently asleep on my lap. I read that I'm supposed to get him to sleep in his crate but he only likes sleeping on me at the moment, although earlier he fell asleep on me and I managed to move him to the crate and he slept still. Is this encouraging a bad habit or will it be alright for a couple of days and then insist he rests in his crate?

Also he's weeing on the floor lots. I take him outside every 10 minutes plus after his lunch and when he wakes etc but he only does it inside. I know it's only his first day so I'm not overally concerned. He was kept in kennels (altho socialised inside) so I'm wondering if that has something to do with it especially as he's never been on grass before.

Any advice would be appreciated thank you.

If you think it will just be a waste then i will not add the feature.

Good morning:o)

I'm going to book my puppy's first vaccinations today and I'm not sure whether to go for the kennel cough vaccine too. I've read some about it and really wouldn't want Benton to become poorly but also I read that it isn't all that effective and also I'm wary about over vaccinating.

Thanks in advance.
