new puppy or not?
Hi, I have a 7 month old chocolate labrador bitch who can be quite hyper/playful round other dogs but is really well behaved on the whole. I was thinking of getting another lab pup but have been told different things so am now unsure what to do. I was told i would need to wait until my girl was older and fully trained before bringing another puppy into the home or they would fight, but then others have told me the younger they're introduced the better. I really need some advice on this matter so pleeeease somebody help!!! Undecided

RE: new puppy or not?
Hi welcome to lab-lovers, sorry about the delay in getting back to you have been rather busy.
Both are right, many people bring up 2 puppies happily together but it can be alot of hard work as both need training, separately as well as together, But it also means they will be brought up together and probably be best buddies.
It would be easier to train a puppy once the other dog has gone through most the training, as you can spend more time training the pup, as the older dog won't need as much training, and will most likely teach the pup some of their good behaviour.

RE: new puppy or not?
Ultimately, it comes to how comfortable you think you'd be with a pup and a girl who herself is still a puppy.

If you think you can manage obedience training with both, then go for it. If not, I think I'd wait just a couple more months until your girl matures a tad more, then reconsider the addition of a younger pup.
