It all depends on what, you're looking for. If you want a pet, or showdog.
If you are just looking for a pet maybe consider a unregistered dog. You could get one from around £200. The most i would pay for a none kc pup is £250.
However if you want a good quality showdog, working dog or just insist on having papers, you'll be looking at anything from around £400 up to roughly £700.
Even though you pay a good price for a kc pup make sure they have been health tested and you really are getting what your paying for and getting a good quality pup.
The health tests that should definitely be looked for are, hipscores i think the average for labradors is 12, also eyes should be tested. The only other one not everyone does it is elbows, not sure what the breed average is.

Maybe a list of required/recommended health tests would be useful. Smile

Whether KC reg or not I'd expect health tests to be done. A low price usually means they've not been tested.

You may also include the vaccination list. It is really important.

Labrador retrievers have a way of finding the people who need them, filling an emptiness we don't even know we have.

The vaccinations are normally the owners responsibility, but some breeders will include the vacs in the price, at least the first one.

Is there much of a difference personality-wise between a showdog and an unregistered dog? We have no plans to enter a pet in shows, but we would like the best possible personality for interacting with our daughter. Thanks!

To be honest the personality is down to the individual dogs, we've had both types and if I remember the Labrador from showlines was i lot more active and vocal, but a lot is down to the dogs and how they are brought up, most people tend to raise labrador puppies around children.
