Man Hurled Neighbor's Dog In Street Following Fight Over Poop

FRANKLIN SQUARE, N.Y. (PIX11)— A Long Island man was arrested and charged with animal torture after he hurled his neighbor's dachshund 10 feet into the air and onto the street following an argument, police said.

According to authorities, Jaime Sanchez, 56, of Franklin Square lost his cool during a heated exchange with a neighbor Saturday after she allegedly let her 1-year-old pup defecate on Sanchez's lawn.

At first Sanchez threatened to unleash his own dog on the neighbor and her dachshund named Coco, but things soon escalated when the neighbor countered with calling police.

Nassau County police said Sanchez grabbed Coco and threw her in the street. The dog suffered injuries to its tail and stitches from a recent surgery opened up, police said.

Sanchez was charged with torturing animals and reckless endangerment to property. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Sunday.

He is due back in court Wednesday
