Is drinking ice cold water bad for dogs.

Trixie has a bucket of water that she has outside and, with the extra cold weather lately the water is freezing.
I'm breaking the ice up so she can get the water underneath but obviously this is cold as ice.
So my question is this bad for her, should she be drinking indoor temperature water only?

I would guess not as if the dogs was in the wild, they would be drinking out of rivers and such but i think i may have to google it.

Also remember, dogs have not been in the wild for thousands of years, I think their constitutions may have changed somewhat since then!

I can't see anything wrong with it, mine drink nearly freezing water regularly through the winter - and they eat snow.

Not sure bout nearly freezing this water was froze solid at some points.

Ice cold water is not a good idea. Water should be at room temperature. Giving a dog ice cold water can cause bloat, the second largest killer of dogs. Dogs shouldn't even be given water when they're overheated. You should place cool rags on the pads to cool them down, not give them water - especially ice water.

Thanks for the info hopefully the weather will get warmer now, even the water out the tap comes out ice cold at the mo.

well, if you can provide your dog with normal water then it would not be of much trouble, instead ICE water may create some complication as your pet is used to reside at homely environment and is not having habits of wilderness.
If your pet is taking ice cold water for the first time, then it may beharmful for it, but if it is taking it regularly then it wont create much trouble.

Thanks again for the advice i'll have to put some water in a bowl which comes out the tap cold as the weather is so cold at the moment, and leave it to warm up.
